Residual Effects from Previous Storms Displaces 200 Riverdale Residents

Temporary shelter at Bladensburg High School

Riverdale, MD –The Prince George’s County Department of Environment Resources (DER) has condemned a 65-unit apartment complex located at 5315 Riverdale Park, Riverdale Maryland due to the residual effects caused by the recent storms. Last evening, Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services responders began deployment after receiving a 911 call regarding a water leak.

Residents residing in the affected area have been vacated. This facility will remain condemned until an official assessment is determined. Officials from the American Red Cross and the Department of Social Services are on the scene and are assisting with displaced families. Since last night, a temporary shelter was established at Bladensburg High School, 4200 57th Avenue. Any impacted resident needing assistance, information or shelter, should call the Prince George’s County Emergency Operation Center at 301-583-1950.
